Here's me playing an original composition entitled Bagatelle in A Minor. Whether it is technically a bagatelle, or not, is open to debate. It's basically a minor blues with a bridge. But that's not a very interesting title. Beethoven had some bagatelles, so I thought it would be kind of cool to have one of my own.

    Lovely!

PianoMonk I really enjoyed your composition and performance. More please!

Thank you all, very much appreciated.

Rob At the risk of over-posting, I'll add this, because you asked for more ;-)

Here's a jazzy take on my original composition, Bagatelle in A Minor, which I call Blue Bagatelle in A Minor..
I recorded this, one take, in Garageband using bass and drums from Band In A Box , noodling around with a Yamaha piano sample by Dore Mark, that is available to download, free, on pianobook.co.uk.
The video was made using Sony Vegas.
The images were produced by the text-to-image process found on deepai.com, except for the last picture.

PianoMonk Wow! that is cool for cats! I love it.
Nice nod to Pink Panther in there too. 🙂

          Rob Thanks very much.

navindra After having written out the piece, I opened my 2009 version of Band In A Box and made the form, laying out the chords, and using a slightly modified swing style (there are literally dozens of jazz styles). My version of BIAB also has what they call "Real Drums", which are sampled drums, including several "Brush Kits", which is what I chose for this tune. BIAB has the ability to export individual tracks, combined tracks, or the entire mix, in either midi or audio. I exported the Real Drums track as a wav file, and the bass track as a midi file. I imported the bass midi file into Sonar 6 DAW and used the acoustic bass from the Garatan Instruments that came with my 2009 version of Finale, as a VST and exported that track as a wav file. Then I imported both the drum and bass audio files into GarageBand, made a track for the piano, and played my Yamaha p35 using Dore Mark's free Yamaha sample VST to record the piano part. I exported an mp3 of the entire mix, and loaded it and the A.I. generated images into Sony Vegas to make the video.

I am very glad you like it. Thanks!

Elegant. That is beautiful. There is very nice substance in this one.

navindra I'm pretty comfortable with my programs (Finale, BIAB, Sonar, GarageBand), so making tracks doesn't feel like a lot of work. Not nearly as much as when I used tape. LOL! I have some recordings made with a Tascam Portastudio 246, which uses cassettes to record 4 separate tracks; pretty hot stuff in 1987. But trying to fix a mistake, oh, man... now that's work. I suffer from "REC button-itis", so I really have to be in a good frame of mind to record anything.

By the way, one of Pat Metheny's best albums, "New Chautauqua" was made on a Tascam 246, with him playing all of the guitars and bass at home, then had it mastered in the studio.

As to Dore's pianos, I don't really remember if the Yamaha S6 i used was from Pianobook or Soundfonts4u, both pretty good quality piano samples, especially for free. I was just playing around, and liked the track, so, kept it. Normally, I would have used one of my Snythogy Ivory 1 pianos, German D, or Studio C7, to record.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe I missed this until now! That was LOVELY, I really enjoyed the classical version. But what blew me away was the jazzy performance. That was AWESOME - and I'm not just talking about the kitty pictures either. I loved how you sneaked in the Pink Panther theme.

Honestly, I don't think there is anything as lovely as drums, bass and piano playing gentle slow jazz. And a Tascam putting them together 😁
