The Nearness Of You
Very nice PianoMonk! I am not a super jazz lover (most of it is too wild to my liking), but I really enjoy your version - slow and melodious with pretty delicate harmonies and so sensitivity played. Now I picture myself in a romantic restaurant with soft candle light, glass of wine in hand... while the sax player tiptoes in for his upcoming solo
Great! Very atmospheric. Feels like being in a jazz club late at night.
Sophia Oh, Sophia, things were going so well, until you brought in that sax. Which makes me laugh, because thirty years ago I would have been slinging my tenor, eager to sprinkle spit laden noodlings over some nice piano. Today, that would never do. Sold my saxes about 15 years ago and never looked back; wish I ditched them sooner.
I can remember being in two nice piano bars, one in Denver, Colorado, the other in Paris, France, (as a patron, not a player), and on those occasions, I think any horn would have met with hostility. In both places, the audience spoke in murmurs, if they spoke at all; some may have even nodded off. In either case, I don't think a horn could have improved the atmosphere.
Anyway, thank you very much for taking the time to say such kind words.
PM ... you play the piano excellently. The Nearness in You sounds both amazing and relaxing - there are no actual words to describe what you created - but it is along the lines of very wonderful and very beautiful and very elegant - all in one. And On the Streets Where You Live. Also amazing. You have a very nice style and music abilities. Will be adding those ones to my permanent listening list.

PianoMonk Hey, SouthPark. Thanks! On days when I feel like giving up, I'll have to re-read your kind words. And, thanks for taking the time to say so. G'day!
Most welcome PianoMonk ! At your level - giving up isn't going to do anything, as you're very very good at music and playing piano already haha! Those skills are never going to be going away. You definitely did do some hard yards, that complement natural ability. G'day again, and have a good day/night. Best regards!
SouthPark I have what's known as an essential tremor that affects my right thumb and index finger. So, sometime when I'm expecting a half note, I get eighth note triplets, which can be very frustrating, especially near the end of an otherwise acceptable recording. I also have ME/CFS, so good days and bad. Perhaps mildly depressed, off and on, because of it all. Fortunately, piano is not my only creative outlet.
PianoMonk Thanks for mentioning that PM. It's outstanding what you can and have done. A glimpse of some of your ability and experience really shines through just by hearing just those examples alone. I think it's excellent that you have various other creative pathways. There definitely are benefits in having the variety.
