PianoTexas is the biggest summer event for Amateurs, Teachers and young people. In the years when they have the Cliburn competitions, it happens just before. I have never been, but have always heard great things about it.
I have never been because you have to audition - so very high level, even for the amateurs. But you can sign up just as an observer I think.
