Piano World hosts a treasure trove of information and nostalgic threads for many of us. VerticalScope have already said that they plan to migrate Piano World to Fora, and when that happens, it's anybody's guess what will happen to all that information. It's also unclear exactly what timeline VerticalScope are operating on.
Here's my idea to help preserve the legacy of Piano World.
For every major forum — Acoustic Pianos, Digital Pianos, etc:
- Create a list of the top 50 threads on Piano World ordered by replies.
- Also collect a list of beloved threads from 🎹 Piano | Tell members.
- Link to those threads directly on Piano World — those threads will have ads and VerticalScope will get revenue.
- ALSO link those threads to their permanent archive on the internet. This will ensure that if the Piano World links ever go dead, the information is still accessible, and helps preserve the legacy of Piano World.
The permanent internet archive may even preserve the recitals for that matter, including Monica K's legacy.
These links will be hosted in Tribute threads in the corresponding P|T forum and can be updated based on member suggestions. These threads will also link to their own permanent archive on the internet so that the index will remain available even if P|T goes down.
Thoughts? This can probably be done in a weekend or two.
