I've read that upright and grand pianos are similar, so I won't distinguish. Question highlighted below followed by ramblings. 😉
AI and my own casting about suggests a standard height from floor to keytops is about 28-30" with 29" typical.
Where I see discrepancy is in the distance from the front of the keyboard to the tips of the pedals. AI tells me 18-24". Elsewhere I've seen 10.5" is standard. Do people here agree with the 10.5" observation?
For pedals, I tried both and, for now, have it set up at 10.5" as even 18" feels odd.
The other measurement I need to look up is distance of the music stand from the front of the keyboard and the height above the keyboard. I think I might be height deficient but I'll have to put a book (or several) under the monitor to accommodate. Thoughts there?
The important part is that I get reasonably comfortable with a semi-close to standard setup before I begin real-world lessons mid-September.
BTW, the current setup (standing desk) is the result of my portable keyboard stand being a knee banger dealing with the pedals and I was never comfortable with the height.
