First of all, great story, awesome song, performance, and presentation!

I'm curious about the piano though. Surely this is a digital piano and/or MIDI controller?

It looks great for sure. Taylor could probably sell a gazillion of those if she wanted to.

Very little information exists as to the make and models of Taylor Swift’s piano collection on the Eras tour, but one thing is for certain: They are in fact electric keyboards masquerading as pianos. In a hilarious malfunction video captured by fans during the Sydney leg of The Eras tour, a laughing Swift appeared confused as her keyboard goes rogue during the acoustic segment. “What? Do you hear that?” Swift said, repeatedly pressing a key, emitting synth notes reminiscent of her synth-pop albums. “My damn keyboard is playing a synth sound. I wonder if it’ll work though, I don’t think it will…”

So she's probably using the term loosely...I'm guessing if she performed this for all of us on PianoTell, she'd begin, "This is the Nord 5 in a wooden shell that I brought with me all around the world..." 🙂 I do like that LED light strip across the top, though!

I agree this something custom built with a digital piano inside. The backside does not have a soundboard visible and there are no mics as well. Furthermore the tone is very clear and sounds closer to a grand than an upright. Don't think there is VST running, too many issues for a live situation. The sound of ANY upper class digital piano is good enough for a live performance.

Same as LLB, I love the led strip on top of the keys. Good to know even Superstars need some light to look at the hands every now and when.

Hah! That was a nice find and good piece of research too.

It's funny how big of a difference the case makes, isn't it? It's like the wooden case helps create a sense of attachment to the instrument.

That's pretty interesting too. I always imagined artists would have some complicated VST behind the scenes.

navindra When I was at a Robbie Williams live concert, I could clearly see a Nord Stage. In live situations everything matters more than the last tad of sound quality from a single instrument. Nobody in the audience could tell a difference, there is too much of other noise all around. Reliability and ease of use it what counts for the musicians. VSTs don't fall in this category.
