I always have midi recording on.
But that means every now and then I capture a recording that would be impossible if I had setup my iPhone to do a video recording. I think to get this quality of play with the camera also on is months more work for me and I think I am pretty much done with practicing this piece now. There still is not enough variation between light and shade, the right hand accompaniment is still too loud and there are some rough spots but overall I am happy with it. I feel I have captured the essence of the piece.
I was listening to some other recordings on soundcloud and not noticing who the pianist was and was thinking my version was pretty respectable until I hit one recording which was just sublime, looked up to see who it was playing and of course it is wonderful Martha Argerich. I feel no shame now.
