This is my first song arrangement that I'm posting on here. Let me know what you think!

Didn't know this song beforehand, so I looked it up — Thanks to Google & YouTube.

Well, I am impressed how well you captured the song, you did a really good job here. But, and there is always a but: The original starts very soft, and ramps up with electric guitars in the chorus. Yours on the other hand has quite a lot of intensity right from the start. If possible, I would go softer in the beginning and do the first dynamic increase with the first chorus. As yours is shortened compared to the original, there is no need to go soft again between the chroruses. Well - that's it from my perspective.

Again - great job!

WieWaldi Thanks! Yes, you have a point. I think the bass on the piano sounds quite nice, so maybe I went too heavy on it haha. I also wanted it to have this really dark "vaudeville" character, which required an emphasis on the bass, which was tough to do while simultaneously keeping it soft.

Was not familiar with this song or the band, for that matter. Or, I was but didn't know it -- apparently they have songs on some video games I've played.

Anyway, very neat arrangement, and played very passionately! I'll be a little contrarian and say that I thought it had good rise and fall throughout the course of the piece, very nice use of dynamics.

Now you just need to get the band's permission to write up sheet music for this to sell! Seriously, this is exactly the kind of arrangement I could see myself buying to work from. And perhaps this could be featured in the (wishful thinking) reboot of Westworld, to play alongside "Black Hole Sun" and 'Heart Shaped Box"!

Westworld! Just loved it. And the use of Paint it Black in Season 1 (I was unfamiliar with that song…yes, I know, the Stones, but I’m not a Stones fan…)

It did rather jump the shark after the bots escaped into the real world.

I might be able to write up this arrangement. There are places online where you can sell sheet music where they supposedly take care of licensing fees for some music.

This kind of music would actually work really well in Westworld.

I agree! I've never seen Westworld (presumably it's a tv show?) but @ranjit 's arrangement reminds me of some of the music in Attack on Titan, and I bet people who buy Animez's sheet music would like this a lot.

So, I looked at the comments and someone wrote:

At first I thought, what do they mean by a "mechanical" piano? Like, literally all pianos are mechanical?? But I'm guessing that just means a player. Is it common to call a player piano a "mechanical piano"? Or, am I clueless, and mechanical is the more common name?

ShiroKuro Interesting! Now that you point it out, I do see the similarity with Animenz's arrangements, especially with the left hand runs and countermelodies.

ShiroKuro I would probably call it a player piano. Westworld has some of the best usage of piano music in all of media imo. They even reference Chopin in an episode.

Amazon Prime will sell you the first season for something like $15 (that's a discount I guess). Is it worth it?

ShiroKuro Probably worth it, yes. It falls off precipitously after the first season anyway imo, but that season is a television masterpiece, one of the greatest of all time. I would recommend watching some clips on YouTube to get an idea of whether it's your kind of show.

ShiroKuro I always compare such things to movie ticket prices. In that comparison, I think you're getting quite a bit of good quality entertainment per dollar. But I agree with @ranjit that you should check out some trailers, see if it's in the ballpark of the sort of things you like to watch in general.
