Vote for Post-Classical PIYW (September)

The September Play It Your Way is due to be announced on July 16, so let's vote on what we will learn! The genre is Post-Classical. The suggestions below came from the suggestion box: Nuvole Biance (Ludovico Einaudi ) I Giorni (Ludovico Einaudi ) Bluebird (Alexis Ffrench) Tales from the Loop main theme (Leonard-Morgan and Glass) Falling, Catching (Agnes Obel) Chord Left (Agnes Obel) Vote below. You are not limited to just these suggestions, but if you add a new one, please be prepared to help me find links to sheet music if your selection wins! PS. I wonder if it would not break the rules of PIYW too badly to have two pieces, especially if by the same composer. There are a few of us who enjoy post classical music who have already learnt and played Bluebird. For me it is one of those pieces that I know well enough that within less than a week I can get it back to recording quality playing.

Having said that I know last song will be a challenge for me.

KevinM I'm certainly open to more flexibility if it means more participation. Personally, I'd prefer Bluebird now that I've had a chance to look at the pieces more closely. I could do Last Song but it would be a fair amount more difficult for me to it get up to snuff!

I don't think the difficulty of "last song" is a problem for a few reasons:

The number of votes is high. Even if no one other than voters participate, it's still a good turn out (and you can include me in the count).
The issue of difficulty has been discussed in the early days of PIYW. The consensus was that any individual PIYW doesn't have to try and appeal to everyone, as there will be a new PIYW with a new genre/difficulty level being announced fairly frequently.
This is the first time that a PIYW piece might not have a clear option for beginners. Since this situation has never happened before, I think it's worth trying at least once or twice to see how it goes. Whatever is lost in beginner participation, might be gained with increased intermediate+ participation.
Shiro suggested that if "last song" wins, including a different easier piece as part of PIYW could be an option. I would rather not do it that way--it will create a thread where half the discussion will be uninteresting to half the participants, and it detracts from the focus of PIYW, which I think is what makes it fun. But there's nothing stopping a group of interested players from starting their own thread and working on an easier piece together.

I won’t vote or participate in playing, but am excited to hear what others do.

Also, thank you for this as I was thinking I needed to find other ‘post-classical’ composers and works apart from Einaudi, Arnalds and Frahm (I don’t guess people consider Stephan Moccio as post-post classical.)

I was actually planning to start a thread, sort of like a repository of post classical piano composers, so maybe now is a good time for that!

I do. I think he's somehow a little less known though, for whatever reason.

ShiroKuro Yea, I saw that section and knew it'd be a roadblock but thought the same thing to just reduce it to single notes. I'll practice it as it's played but I'm not confident I'll get it down in time lol

At the risk of revealing my age range, some the discussion here makes me think of the first "new age" piano music I heard on the Windham-Hill record label by composer pianist George Winston.

lilypad Yes, I have fond memories of Windham Hill, and George Winston has long been a favorite. I wonder if he didn't show up here because of difficulty level.

Speaking of Windham Hill, another one of those record labels was Narada. Not too long ago, I found a nice collection of piano sheet music by Narada artists.

AFAIK, the closest thing now is Whisperings?
