So, I like to listen to YT channels in different languages on subjects that interest me. I stumbled upon this channel recently. Besides @WieWaldi I don't know if anyone else speaks German but I thought I might share:

A few weeks ago I found a really interesting lecture by Vadim Monastyrski in Russian with Asian
subtitles. Gladly I could turn on TouTube’s CC for English subtitles.

Thanks for this! I also do this in other languages I know, like French and Italian, both of which have a lot of interesting videos. The Italian pianist Roberto Prosseda, who I've longed admired for his artistry and repertoire, has started to put out brief and highly focused videos on aspects of technique and performance, which are worth a look if you speak Italian.

JustinVG Oh yeah, I think I saw him when I was learning parts of Pictures at an Exhibition. I don't really understand Russian even though it's supposedly close to Polish but thankfully he has English subtitles.

Indeed. And judging by the snippets of music he played, he's not a very proficient sight-reader...

He seems to spend a lot of time talking in his videos, and very little time demonstrating at the piano. I looked through a few videos and couldn't find anywhere where he actually played anything that would really show his qualities as a pianist.

@MRC - That's because he's demonstrating 7 bad things students do when trying to sight read prima vista, and is giving examples of the kind of bad playing you end up with. 😉

His seven things are:

playing too slowly, which he says leads to mistakes in rhythm
playing too fast, ditto
not reading ahead, so you're caught out as the music changes or gets more complicated
trying to play every note perfectly
losing the pulse
choosing music for sight reading that is too complicated
not practising sight reading regularly means you won't get good at sight reading.

Thanks but I don't speak Italian and I don't currently intend to learn it. I watch channels in other languages partially as a way to get more input for languages I speak or want to speak. I used to watch prof. Shijun Wang but my Chinese learning has stalled and I can't understand him anymore. 😆 BTW, he has English videos too for those who don't want to learn Mandarin. 😉

lautreamont I have seen a couple of those and frustrated that I can’t properly appreciate them.

Prosseda is one of my favourite pianists. Beautiful sensitivity to his playing.

Maybe I should watch him to try to improve my Mandarin 😆

I watched YouTube videos from Phoebe Piano 菲比钢琴. The lady is a graduate of the University of Ottawa in Canada. The content is mainly for adults in Chinese. She is very traditional with the focus on Classical music and reading music from day 1. The button for captions in English and other languages not available. Watch what she's doing on the videos in order to figure out what she's trying to say or teach.

2 other YouTube channels I used to watch is Pianology 科学钢琴 from a music studio. Their teachers haven't been posting new videos for a while. The other one is NiceChord (好和弦) from Taiwan. Sorry, no English captions for these either.

I've watched a number of videos by turning on subtitles on Sehun Kim's channel, and learned a few things. This is a shorter one. A lot or over 20 minutes long.
