Free Metronome app

Can anyone recommend a free metronome app for an ancient iPhone (version 8)?

I have just installed Simple Metronome and it is exactly what its name describes and works ok.

But I was wondering if anyone here has one that can be recommended? I was getting sick of switching to the Ivory II concert D piano virtual piano because it has a metronome in the player, I don't like this virtual piano and it is annoying to change speed settings, so I've plugged my ancient iphone into my audio chain.

KevinM I use this one. I’ve had it forever and at this point, I can’t remember if it was free or not. Sorry!!

Ignore the rest of this app. The metronome is free and my favorite.

Thanks both, I'd used Soundbrenner a long time ago and my memory of it was that during that time they turned what was an easy to use metronome app into a messy app that made using the metronome awkward and added repeating reminders for paying to update for more features.

I'm giving Pro Metronome a go now.

Between the app and physical metronome, I still perfer the latter (Seiko SQ70 my fav now). I use the app mainly for the “tap” feature, not just to check someone else’s tempo, but to gauge the steadiness of my own tempo during playback, and identify where I rush/linger and by how much.

Dial (physical or virtual) to change tempo is still the most convenient. I do wish the dials in app to go larger steps (in the middle to faster range) like on physical metronome.

KevinM Soundbrenner requires an extra three clicks to skip the ads and get to the metronome. I wish they didn't try to excessively monetize something that should be so simple and straightforward!

I bought it because I sometimes don't want to have my phone in my piano space (my current dept. chair is somehow really into calling and texting faculty late into the evening. Having my phone elsewhere makes it easier to ignore him!)

But at this point I haven't used it in a few months, and I keep forgetting I have it. 😅

I have installed the app on my retired iPhone, not my current one, so I avoid the being called issue. The retired phone is used only for video recording of me playing and now the metronome.

So far metronome pro is working how I want for free. Thanks ShiroKuro. They have more features if I pay but I don’t need those currently. There is not the constant hassling me to pay.

I'm using an Android app called Metronome Beats. I think I paid a dollar or two for it a long time ago; at that price it's close enough to free that I was fine paying for it, even though I do love a deal 😉

I use the Pro Metronome like ShiroKuro. It has free and paid features. The free features are more than enough for me. When you pay, you can create Polyrhythms, trainings, etc. But still that paid version is pretty cheap, around 4,- per year.

rsl12 Soundbrenner is one (obscure) click from home page to metronome page on my iPhone. I do not remember if I had to pay to avoid seeing any ads (I would have 'cause that's annoying enough). You are correct they are trying so hard to turn this into a different app to make money (with the practice tracking nonsense), and the metronome is sadly like an Easter egg now.
