Mysteries of the World

This is kind of a strange song for me. It began with a piano riff and the thought that I had lost some friends in my past that I wish I had tried harder to hold on to. Then that morphed into the "never to be understood mysteries of the world". I probably gave up on this song numerious times but I really liked the riff and the last lines ...

"The mysteries of the world will never cease to be.
For every answer found will set a dozen questions free.
The world stands so still as we pass on by.
With no beginning or an end,
we are just a blink of its eye."

...so I kept at it. In the end I'm very pleased with the result. Many thanks to drummer TBell from Pianoworld.

@Peyton Fantastic! That was really, really good.

I've had a hankering to do that sort of thing: record separate parts (I sing and play bass pretty well, guitar minimally, saxophone if I dusted it off from high school ... and my spouse is quite a drummer) and make a fun video out of it. I'd definitely have a learning curve with the video parts of it: I have some experience with audio multitracking but I've never done much more than trim a video recording ...

Anyway, thanks much for sharing that!

TC3 thanks. I've been doing multitracking and video for many, many years and I still don't know what I'm doing half the time. If you get yourself a good DAW (I use Studio One) that's a great start. For audio I usually start with a drum track then go to a rough piano and vocal. All instruments and the final video come after that. For video I used to have an excellent digital camera but lost it im a fire. I then tried using my phone but was not happy with the results. I've since gotten a small Zoom camera and it seems to do what I need. The biggest problem videoing as I record is I have to reset everything everytime I do a new take (I do lots of takes). Then it's off to imovie (I can't afford the fancy video editing tools) and matching the vid with the audio. More often than not that will usually lead to more audio editing and maybe new recording. ALL that said... it's fun as hell.

I have some decent audio equipment, including a Zoom R16, but I've only used it for multi-mic live performances. The last time I tried to do full-on multi-track recording was in the mid-90s with a super cheap Tascam 4-track tape recorder! 😃 I need to move into this century and learn some new things ...

TC3 Yup, I had the same machine. Had to "bounce" to get multiple tracks. Today's DAW's are equivalent to the recording studios of 20 years ago. Amazing. With your Roland you have an entire band at your fingertips.
