Peyton I always loved this song but I never really listened to it carefully until I started to sing it. (Mostly, as a sailer, I was atracted to the refrain.) It's actually a darkly sarcastic and satirical song. Here Newman adopts a persona of a slaver to deliver a message that is the opposite of his own (and mine of course) personal views. The Buffaloes were NOT happy having to learn all those strings but the song really needed them. 🙂
WieWaldi Peyton Very well perfromed, Biff. Your voice suits this song great. Edit: may I ask, why your videos are always in 320p?
lilypad That sounded very good! Please tell The Buffaloes they did a great job on the strings. That was interesting about the lyrics, I hadn't listened closely to them.
Simonb I saw Randy Newman live in 2000, he's a unique songwriter, and a terrifically under-rated musician. That's a lovely version Peyton. Cheers
Peyton WieWaldi I didn't realize I was doing that. I wondered why they were uploading so fast. Thanks for pointing it out.
