Lente A page of music has just flicked a new Tennessee Red cedar pencil from the music desk into the space between the fallboard and the front of the piano. With my piano, this leads into the bowls of the beast to the strings, dampers and other mysterious moving parts. This time the pencil has fallen beyond recovery of any magnet but marvelously has not landed upon the bass strings or other vibrating entities that dwell there. Now I'm curious as to what others have lost in this elegantly designed carcass. I'm quite certain there is a novel (or at the least a short story) waiting to be written about the detritus resting on the floor of the frame.
navindra Lente Mutes used to be my nemesis... However, I'm OCD enough that I would take apart the whole piano to remove a mute if I had to. I once almost destroyed my upright to remove a fallen mute!
ShiroKuro navindra I once almost destroyed my upright to remove a fallen mute! 😮 I once lost a pencil and we figured out how to get it out without waiting for the tuner. I haven't lost anything else... so far....
Lente pianoloverus Wonderfull and so apt an observation! I added the word "pencilectomy" to my notes. ✏️
