BTW here was my first piano+tree photo, from 2019 (in our old house), which was the year I bought this piano. As I recall, this photo was what inspired me to figure out how to polish the logo. You can probably tell from this year’s photos, but I polished the logo with Flitz (in 2020 I think) and it still looks brand new after 5+ years. (Pedals too, but who takes photos of their pedals!)

Sooo…. I’m happy to move on from the Christmas music I’ve been playing and start on some new pieces… but I really don’t want to put the Christmas decorations away. Not because of the hassle to taking everything down (Mr SK always helps and it’s not so bad). But because the lights and ornaments make me happy and I love sitting at the piano with all of that in my line of vision….

I guess that’s just another good excuse to spend more time at the piano during the holidays! 🙂

...only the second day of Christmas. We put up a few decorations around the house on ChristmasEve and take them down by Twelfth Night. I am thinking of making a start recording Take Five for the recital in February.

keff I used to always put things away around Jan 6th. But there’s a Japanese new years show we like to watch, that’s super long. And last year we watched it on the first while putting away the ornaments, and that was a nice way to do it. So I decided to that again this year — well, Jan 1 2026 that is.

So only one more week to enjoy the decorations! 😊

Some new neighbours have moved in over the road. They are incomprehensible! They put some elaborate Christmas decorations (lights, inflatable figures etc) in their front garden on December 1; then they spent the rest of the month taking them down, deflating them and putting them up again, and reinflating them. They have only been on for a few hours the whole month. But they leave them in the garden (except for the lights), so it not a security concern or anything like that. They did NOT have them on for Christmas Day. As I write this, everything is still lying flat in their garden.

Were they actually moving them? Or did the decorations just deflate when the power was turned off? (Those inflatables have to have the power going the entire time to keep air in them, they deflate immediately upon being turned off)
