Same here, but to make it worse: I didn't even know a euphonium exists. First I thought - "Oh! Language barrier! Maybe this is a more sophisticated term for tuba for the English speakers." For me it looked like a tuba, never payed too much attention how big this thing exactly is.😄

WieWaldi Many style elements in common with my two uploads with ties to Dr. John (CC Rider & Beale Street Blues). I can tell you must have worked hard on this one!! Lots of tricky things going on! Great ending!!

I don't mind the harmonies but left hand moves are difficult to make legato without pedal. I chose not to use pedal in my recording.

Same here! What makes it worse: my dad was a professional clarinetist. I have no excuse about not knowing brass instruments. Yet here we are 😃 Thanks for sharing that pianocat, it was both entertaining and educational!

Thanks, and don't worry if you've not heard of a euphonium / baritone horn. It's the instrument you get assigned in school when all of the other instruments are taken. 🙂

thepianoplayer416 That's a pretty arrangement and you played it very smoothly. 🙂 I might consider buying a Faber book at some point as they seem to have some nice arrangements for late beginners/early intermediate players (the awkward phase I'm currently plodding through).

@WieWaldi @Sophia - Don't worry, you're not alone in being unfamiliar with this instrument - I had never heard of it myself until I saw the film "Brassed Off" (which is a great comedy/romance film featuring a brass band competition, set against the backdrop of struggling working class people in the north).

rsl12 Nicely played. Personally I preferred the sections which were played in the usual traditional style, rather than the improv middle section, but maybe others liked that section best - different tastes. 🙂

Your vocals were fine but the volume on the mic could have done with being slightly louder. You could try a different camera angle if you want to appear more engaged with viewers, but maybe you would not be able to include your hands as well. I don't think it would really matter for this piece though - this was an improv arrangement played for fun, not a submission for a piano exam, so most viewers won't be invested in picking apart your technique.

BillM After 1½ years silent forum member, you made a very impressive 1_st post. Well played and your voice complements those registers very well. Normally, I dislike electro piano sounds and especially those with a lot of echo effects; but in this case I must admit it sounded great. Good choice!

rogerch Loved this. The tempo is just right and your piano has a wonderful full tone. Great camera angle - I really like being able to watch you perform!
