Sounds quite difficult to me, albeit being quite slow as it actually only chords. But big chords. I love the dynamics you brought out with your K200, needless to say the tempo was perfect for this piece. I think you can be proud of yourself. Well done!

This is one the pieces that I instantly recognize by its first chord. Even before I read the title, that contains a lot of words, btw. Your playing was just beautiful, very well performed. About the singing, I think the voice was a bit thin. No wonder if you recorded it, being ill. I think this wonderful piece deserves to be revisited when you have back your full voice, again. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you! Although, I can't blame being under the weather for the vocals being thin. There were even thinner in the original key but the lower I transposed the key, the less good the song sounded. I think the only way I'd be able to improve the vocals would be either to record them separately and/or try to get more systematic about improving my voice rather than winging it for a random song. rsl12 To me, it seems like you are very much at ease and master of your instrument. You seem to be doing a great job with those stretches too! I wouldn't be able to manage that.

This is the kind of music I would love to be able to sit at a piano and just play... so good. I really enjoyed this! 👍

navindra I'm in awe of the collection of skills you used to make this video! I thought I was trying to be a well-rounded pianist, but you've got ALL the skills! Also, what a fun choice for the recital. It probably only appeals to people of a certain age, but I'm in that age group! Your piano playing sounds good, your piano tuning and mic setup sounds AMAZING. And it's fun to hear you sing! For voice, consider looking up tutorials on "singing sound production" and "singing resonance". These were the main things I worked on with a teacher when I did voice lessons, and I think it would help you (though I'm not sure how easy it will be to learn without a teacher).

iternabe as usual, your playing shows good accuracy with rhythm and notes, and I'm glad to hear you are delving deeper into how to interpret a piece. I hear the effects of your efforts, but only a little. It's normal for beginners to not push the drama envelope as hard as it needs to be pushed. Partly because it's hard to do that and play all the right notes, but also because what sounds dramatic to the player's ears is usually not as dramatic to the listener's. I would try recording yourself playing overly dramatic, and then comparing the playing experience to the listening one.

Sophia Lovely, controlled playing. This is just my opinion, but while the score probably doesn't specify it, I think some of the transitions between sections could use a little bit more silence between them, even if it isn't strictly metronomic.

iternabe This sounded near-perfect! You must've spent a lot of time on it. I didn't know "Hava Nagila" had a composer - usually "folk songs" don't have known composers, but apparently this one does. It seems odd that we call it a folk song now.

rach3master I only listened to the first few seconds before typing this out. This is one of my favorite themes from any piece of media, ever, and you absolutely do it justice.

keff Another piece I love very much... Misty always leaves me a little misty eyed 🙂 Thank you for performing that for us keff! It brought back happy memories of my youth, because it was one of the pieces my dad played... in another lifetime.

rogerch Thanks much!! That's funny about the Gelato Fiasco... I don't think I even realized I was wearing that shirt but it kind of fits the video. That crinkled paper? I think I had crinkled up the lyrics and rather than print them again just went with it. Wow... it really is wrinkled isn't it?

WieWaldi Thank you! I'm very pleased with how the dynamics came out, particularly the pianissimo measures, since uprights don't have a real una corda pedal. It was still enough to get a noticeable dynamic contrast.

plop_symphony It always baffles me when I see how long ~~short~~ you have been at the piano. Lovely rendition of this piece by Debussy. I didn't know it, so besides entertaining, it was also educational 🙂 Always enjoy your recitals, and whereas with some people you basically know what type of music to expect (and nothing wrong with that!!!), you always manage to surprise with various themes and styles. Great work!

Beautiful Shiro! Very delicately played, you have such a soft touch. A huge long piece like that is bound to have a few rough spots... no shame in that! And it provided some very modern chords that jazz musicians would more than likely drool over and study for years to come 😂

Love how you continue to build it up until almost the very end. I find the Canon in D a little boring usually, but you actually managed to keep my interest throughout. Yes, I listened to the entire piece. I was actually quite surprised how quickly those 7 minutes went!

Peyton Fantastic, Peyton!!! I have a confession to make: I I'm just not into raunchy music, at all. BUT!!! I thoroughly enjoyed what YOU did with the song! That was highly impressive!!! I don't even know where to begin - the multitrack vocals, the groovy drum, the funky rhythm, the bass line, and of course the camera work. If you continue like that, you might make convert me to like pop music... well... maybe. Nah, I just like it when you play/sing it 😋

navindra What a very pleasant piece! Now we're finding out the truth about you: not only do you play guitar, or piano (and you can tune it), or harmonium, or sing. Nope, you just have to add combined SINGING AND PIANO to that mix as well. I haven't even started about your OTHER talents that involve hosting this awesome forum! So many talents! 🥰

MarieJ And, yet another pretty piece that just flows and flows. Just like pop music, I'm actually not that much into (what they used to call) New Age music. I think this qualifies for that genre? But I did enjoy this piece, it's just so gentle and makes you feel good. Not to mention it was very well played. What more could you wish for really 🙂

Nightowl Nice smooth steady playing! I like the way you bring out the melody, and also the way you emphasize the chords in the bass that play when the melody pauses. The result is a nice echo effect. Well done!
