Reading my posts, I see I'm tending to sound somewhat defensive/argumentative.
Sorry about that.
There's an old saying that the lawyer who argues his own case has a fool as a client.
Probably equally foolish for somebody trying to play classical music with herself being her primary teacher (my last lessons were a couple months' with a good teacher in 1963).
My playing is rather instinctual, and my instincts are not well-cultivated.
I'll certainly defer to @pianoloverus in all such matters.
As I mentioned in my post about Peyton's recent recording of a transcription of the Bach "Air on the G string", I personally feel transcriptions in general are less sacred/untouchable than something like the Hammerklavier. As I wrote Peyton, I feel like a "cover band" when playing one, with commensurate freedom.
Although truth be told, because I just play for myself and will never have to face a teacher let alone a jury, I allow myself certain freedoms when playing most things - not just transcriptions.
That said, because of my lack of education and experience I do value comments and criticisms from others - based on their knowledge and/or taste.
So thanks to all for your comments. I appreciate them!
