Well, I had the MRI yesterday. I read the report (the one that the MRI tech writes up) but since I haven't had an actual follow up visit with the doctor yet, there are still some things I don't understand.
However, the report said that the MRI showed a fracture and numerous places with bad swelling and signs of a sprain and tendonosis (which is maybe worse than tendonitis??). Anyway, all of that more than explains all the pain I've been having! Fortunately there are no signs of tears or something that would require surgery. Whew!
But since there's a fracture, now I have to wear a walking boot for three weeks and then follow up at the three week mark to determine next steps (iow I won't know whether I'll have to wear the boot for longer until then).
So that's the bad news... Well, that and the fact that "walking boot" is a misnomer. I can hardly walk with this thing. The way it holds my foot means I can't straighten my knee when standing, and I've only had it on for about half a day and already my gait is so misaligned, my back is killing me... :/
But the good news is, the doc said I can take it off for piano and as long as I don't feel pain, I can use my foot to pedal while playing piano. Yay!
So I think it's more good news than bad! 🙂
