I recorded this in the same session as La fille aux cheveux de lin. The piece, however, is new to me. It is, IMO, an oft neglected sibling in Op.3 of the famous "Prelude in C# Minor", and is very much worth hearing. I recorded this in the same session as I did Debussy's "La fille aux chevaux de lin", and, as such is part of my "Phoenix Rising from the Ashes recordings" done as I recover from two major abdominal surgeries in the last year... I did not know this piece until recently; it had been eclipsed by other pieces in Op.3 that I had played previously including (of course) the Prelude in C# Minor and Elegy. I learned it after reading an opinion on PW that Rachmaninoff did not know how to write a melody, an opinion with which I strongly disagree and offer this performance as evidence that indeed, he could write a beautiful melody, and did so starting very early in his compositional career.
