Animisha I know exactly what you mean, it would be impossible not to compare your own playing with others, when you're all working on the same piece for this event. I think it's a matter of confidence, something I never had much of to begin with, so I would find it very intimidating listening to experienced pianists playing a piece brilliantly while I could barely manage the beginners' version.
People on this forum have always been very kind when I've submitted basic pieces to the recital and I'm sure that would be the case with this one, but I don't think I'd enjoy it so I will just sit back and enjoy listening to the different interpretations submitted by everybody. It is a great idea for confident players and will encourage collaboration between forum members.

I didn't know it either. But that's the fun of it - we learn something every day 😃 I found a version that I can handle... at least the first part. Which coincides with them giving away the first part for free - if you want the whole thing, you need to spend some $$$. So I'll definitely be playing the toddler version.

I downloaded the intermediate arrangement of Beale Street from Musicnotes that rsl12 linked to above and fumbled my way through it yesterday just to see where the hard parts will be.

It might be a little too difficult for me to get decently performable by the end of June, but we shall see.

I made a start with the "easy" arrangement that I linked to earlier. It is exactly my level - a bit of a challenge but nothing too hard. I look forward to the recital 😃

P.S. Play It Your Way always reminds me of Play It Again Sam (you know, that quote of something no one ever really said), because somehow when I think recitals, I think Sam 😃
