Agree. My perception is that the price you can pay in the UK in the US are fairly similar. You may get a few more extras in the deal in the US, but there is no need for significant haggling on the price to be done in the UK. Mainland Europe, and EU countries specifically, may be a different story, particularly if wanting to purchase a higher end European-made piano.
The Canadian the market is a different story though. It is small so you were definitely going to pay more than you would pay in the US (pre any tariffs). It was about 60% of the cost, including taxes, delivery, etc., for me to purchase a German upright in the UK and get it shipped than to buy the same piano from the (one and only) Canadian dealer. Several factors of the day contributed to this - the government of the day tanked sterling, German uprights, but not grands, were not subject to extra customs tariffs, fuel costs were not being surcharged at the time of purchase - that may no longer be applicable.
