I was looking for something else and came across a post I made in 2018 after playing in a recital:

"The excellent fail more often than the mediocre. They begin more. They attempt more. They attack more. Mastery lives quietly atop a mountain of mistakes." by Eric Greitens
Yesterday I made my mountain a little higher...

I love the original quote, and my addition to it.

As I am getting ready now for another recital (one month away!) I will keep this in mind....

Maybe the only goal is to make my mountain a little higher....

I particularly like the last line - "Mastery lives quietly atop a mountain of mistakes." Thanks, I needed to hear that today! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Adagiette yep, this is definitely one of my favorite quotes!

Not exactly motivational, but important just the same.
Claude Debussy said, โ€œMusic is the space between the notes.โ€

Rob I always liked that one!

thepianoplayer416 Apropos your first quote. I have heard that when Benny Andersson is out somewhere and people recognise him, they always, always, always say to him: Thank you for the music. ๐Ÿ˜Š
