I thought I read somewhere that she was working in a gym when they met, that's why I thought she wasn't ever a concertizer.
Not that it matters.
The details of their deaths are very sad and quite unusual. Gene suffered with Alzheimer's disease and his wife was his carer, so he was probably unable to call for help when she died. Considering their ages it's surprising that she died first, but it's a stark reminder of how unpredictable these things can be. This story has been playing on my mind since the details emerged. May they both rest in peace.

Per wikipedia, at age 11, she performed a movement of the Haydn Concerto in G with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra.
