As seen on FB. I don’t know anything about this piano, other than that the person (company?) who did the art case is not connected to S&S.

ETA it really bugs me that the lid opens the wrong way, but the piano itself is so hideous that I guess it doesn’t really matter….

As said in the movie 'Home for the Holidays'
"Opinions are like ?ssholes, everybody has one and thinks everyone else's stinks"
    😂

An absolute monstrosity with a fake name on the fall board. How delightful!

      pianoloverus yes indeed 🤣 🤣 🤣

BTW it didn't occur to me that the piano isn't a real S&S. The FB post made it sound like the art case is an after add-on done at the request of the owner to match the room. In which case, since it's a two-pedal, it must be pretty old. Well, "authentic S&S" or not, it's probably pretty old....

I suppose both are equally possible.

I’m thinking a combination of a bull and gelato.

ShiroKuro BTW it didn't occur to me that the piano isn't a real S&S.

It may be a real Steinway and Sons. I misread the first post. The keys are ridiculously unlevel and the music desk way too small just to add to the absurdity.

pianoloverus It may be a real Steinway and Sons.

If it is a real Steinway, it's a real shame.
            😆

I'm wondering about the depressed keys and the power plug. Is it a player piano?

Also, how much would the backwards lid change the accoustics of the piano?

BartK I'm wondering about the depressed keys and the power plug. Is it a player piano?

Again, I pulled this of FB so I don't know, but I was guessing it's a player, and probably an after add-on (given the apparent age)

Also, how much would the backwards lid change the accoustics of the piano?

              I have this question too!!

Adagiette Yes, it's an abomination. It brings to mind the expression "Just because one can, that doesn't mean that one should..."

"Don't let's ask for the moon, we have the stars." (Final line from Now,Voyager, 1942)

@ShiroKuro Are we sure this wasn’t generated by AI? The fact that the lid opens the wrong way seems to me to be something that I would expect from and AI image generator, but would probably create significant issues if one were to try to actually construct the case. Also, the weirdly depressed vs uneven keys would seem to be a plausible AI thing.

Sgisela Are we sure this wasn’t generated by AI?

It's certainly possible, but I don't think so. I feel like the photos are too good, looking at things like the view out the window, the consistency of room across different photos, that kind of thing. It would take some pretty high level AI I think.
The person who posted it said he works at a piano refurbisher, in Taiwan, and that this was something the client requested.

the weirdly depressed vs uneven keys

I think that's from the player mechanism.

Oh one other reason I don't think it's AI is just how the other posters (all piano tuners) reacted to it.

But again, you could be right , I have no idea really.

ShiroKuro well, if it is real, definitely supports the adage that money can’t buy taste.
