Hello everyone, I really appreciate all the comments!
pianocat Thank you! Yes, I have tried to apply dynamic range a couple of times and I find it super challenging to play one hand softer/louder than the other. Need to keep practicing that. I would love to have the opportunity to play on an acoustic piano, I've only ever played my digital. Need to figure out where I can have access to one.
BartK Thank you! About memorizing the pieces, sometimes I found it just happened because I practiced it so much. So I ended up memorizing it without intending to. I do think I need to get a book on sight reading to work on this.
iternabe Thank you! Actually I came across your videos on YouTube and that's how I learned about this forum! I really liked that you added scales, it's something I lacked in my first year. Seems like sight reading is coming up as a common theme, so I will start working on this.
Player1 Thank you! That's really good to know about book 3B. Like you suggest, I will probably will still go through it and just skim through the repetitive stuff.
Kaydia and Animisha Thank you, I will check those out!
hebele Definitely having fun, still as excited as day one! I think slow, achievable, progress has been key for me to maintain the motivation.
Nightowl For the videos I use my iPhone 16. For the audio I use the recording function of my digital piano. Then I sync the video and audio manually using iMovie. I also remove the "ambience" audio from the iPhone video, so in the end it's only the clean audio recording from the piano.
Sophia Thank you! I will check out the thread about the Faber methods.
WieWaldi Agree, I still like hearing other people's thoughts and then I can evaluate with my teacher. I found out about the forum because I came across @iternabe's video on YouTube!
thepianoplayer416 Thank you! Yes, for pedaling try to follow what's on the music sheet (the Faber books indicate when to change/reset the pedal), but I feel like I've been relying too much on it. I'm more conscious of it now, and also about the dynamics. So far I feel like I've been focusing more on accuracy.
