A pianist friend of my mother recommended to her the Roland RP701-CB. She doesn't have a lot of space in her apartment, and the friend indicated the keyboard and tone of this model are good. Any thoughts?
Thanks.
Roland RP701-CB?

Not a bad place to start.
If you want to go for a smaller footprint, you could consider Roland FP-30X or FP-60X bundles including the furniture stand. These come with the same SuperNatural sound engine, PHA-4 action, and equivalent sound systems. It would also be quite a bit cheaper.
Here's an example bundle.
Other than space constraints, what's the budget and other requirements? There are many alternatives from other brands available... so probably you need some way to narrow down the options.
The thing to take into consideration with Roland is that the overall experience in terms of action/tone results in a very nicely balanced and expressive instrument. However, the opinions on the sound engine on its own can sometimes be polarizing. I think most people will find it quite nice though.

Dependance how the space is spare. If it is for the width, Kawai CN201, CA401 and Yamaha CLP825 are good candidates, too.
If it is for depth, Roland F701, DP603 and Yamaha YDP S55/S35 are the candidates to look at.
And basically many slabs, but if she doesn't plan to move the piano around or playing gigs, I personally find the furnitue models much nicer.
Thank you all. I noted that the RP701 was on sale through Amazon for $1,349, which seemed less expensive than any of the other bundled devices, so I went ahead and ordered that for her. I'm sure she'll be happy with it.
