I was playing with the Bing create AI software and wrote descriptions of the physical appearances of specific composers without naming them and the results were hilarious:

In most cases I didn't even need to describe facial features. And when I did (like the last one with Rachmaninoff') it was a miserable fail 😂.

This is what comes into my mind:

  1. Bach
  2. Beethoven
  3. no idea, but the clothes remind indeed of a composer I cannot nearly name Edit: Schubert, but this can be plain wrong as I have no idea how Schubert looks like. It was just popping up in my mind
  4. An actor of the 2005 King Kong movie, Adrien Brody
  5. The actor of Thor in one of the Marvel Avengers movies, before bodybuilding???
  6. Someone from Russia?
  7. A Jedi Knight. Definitely a Jedi Knight.

    Hahaha! Here are the answers:

    Bach
    Beethoven
    Schubert
    Chopin
    Liszt
    Brahms
    Rachmaninoff

Rubens Shame on my head for not knowing how our heroes look like.
Brahms was rendered very good. Just googled his image. But I still think, Adrien Brody is closer to number 4.

But, if you would posted an image of Einstein, I had known it is Edward Grieg. 👅

I was able to recognise 1 to 6, even though I think I only got Chopin because I was sure you would include him. But I would never have guessed 7 if you hadn't already given the game away. How did Rachmaninoff end up looking like a wizened Zen master?

Could you tell us the descriptions that you used to produce these images?

MRC Could you tell us the descriptions that you used to produce these images?

I was thinking the same! That was some heck of a description... for example comparing your descripion

        with the "official" rendition:

Is an uncanny resemblance! Obviously 1800s impression of handsome is not 2000s impression, but still... both very similar even the pose!

Haha I don't remember most of my descriptions, I just added details until the rendition was acceptable.

For Liszt I think the final description was something like "A confident man with long blonde hair, wearing a chic suit, arms crossed, looking up".

For Chopin I just remember mentioning a big nose and a moribund expression.

For Bach the rendition always looked way too happy, until I added the word grumpy. By the way I never mentioned a glass of liquor, the AI just added it.

        • MRC replied to this.

I don't even remember how my Rachmaninoff ended up looking like that, but the previous renditions were even less accurate.

Rubens For Bach the rendition always looked way too happy, until I added the word grumpy. By the way I never mentioned a glass of liquor, the AI just added it.

That''s because the AI is depicting P.D.Q. Bach, not J.S.

I didn't know who no 6 was, because he is much younger when I picture him in my mind. It's very difficult to do this without writing a name. I didn't write something about the pose but only about the face, hair and clothes. I said he should be in his 30's but in my picture he looks more like 18 😄

I made him a bit older and now added a pose and a chair, but now the shape of his eyes and lips are wrong, it doesn't look like him.

And after that I made him older without a pose, but with a beard. I think that might be closer to what he looked like, I think the eyes and lips are correct now.
