    Simonb, I have considered signing up with Open Studio and seeing whether I can pick up some new knowledge / skills / techniques / tricks. 🙂 I like what they do online for free but I know I'm missing a lot of practical theory because I never had much education that way. My piano lessons revolved more around, "Here, play this!", which I did. I feel kinda like a fairly high level speaker that never learned much about grammar... only in regards to music.

        Yes, I've also considered signing up to Open Studio, but whilst I'm having classical Piano lessons it would be a waste of time, since most of my practice is devoted to classical, and what I do at a variation on an open mic night, which isn't Jazz either.

        That said, I have purchased a couple of Peter Martin's "Packs", when they have been in a sale. One for Stevie Wonder and the other Monk. You got videos (of PM), transcriptions of what he plays as well as his analysis. They normally contain 4-6 pieces, and at sale price are great value.

        I think my playing is the other way around. I know quite a lot of grammar, but really haven't got much beyond simple sentences!
