This is Amazing Grace, from Alfred 1. I was thinking about my father today while trying to get a decent recording of this piece. We lost him 3 years ago, August 17th. His birthday's coming up, and he would have been 85 years old if not for congestive heart failure and the complications of diabetes. His wife, my step-mom, just moved into nursing care after living with him for over 35 years. So I've dedicated this piece to her. I played it for her when I recently went to visit. Even though she's been teaching piano forever, she didn't use Alfred, so the arrangement is new to her. She's learning it in the home's chapel, which has a nice old Baldwin grand, a gigantic pipe organ, and an aviary full of finches and doves. I thank the universe that she landed at such a nice place.
This piece has been gone over by my teacher, and its flaws are not her fault. 😃
