panamint09 Hanon Pro is an app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that helps improve your keyboard and piano technique with repertoire and exercises modernized for the digital age. Just like health and fitness apps track your physical health over time, Hanon Pro does the same for piano practice. The app's intelligence engine enables you to get feedback on your playing, visualize trends, and track practice habits over time.
Welcome to the site, panamint. We haven't gotten to know you yet. Are you a person learning the piano who has tried out this software, or someone who teaches piano who uses it, or a programmer /part of team who developed it?
When you say it improves "technique" - how do you perceive "technique"? My own take is that it involves how we use our bodies effectively to produce the kinds of sounds we want to make music, certain ways of playing that are effective. I can't picture software being able to read how we use our hands - only results such as accuracy of correct notes within prescribed timing. I did see things like "scales" listed as "technique" - is that the kind of thing you mean?
I can see this type of app being able to tell you whether you're hitting wrong notes, and whether you have hesitations. Though part of approaching piano playing may involve hesitation, playing music out of order, in sections etc. depending on the music and what you're aiming for.
